AIM
The aim of this webinar is to give GDP’s top tips for orthodontic screening of their patients, guidance on the best time to refer as well as an update on NHS Lanarkshire orthodontic referral pathway and services.
OBJECTIVES
- To provide GDP’s with top tips in orthodontic assessment
- To discuss the concepts of Orthodontics in practice
- To ensure GDP’s are updated and have greater knowledge and understanding of NHS Lanarkshire’s Referral Pathway 2021

About Imran Shafi
Dr Imran Shafi BDS, MFDS RCPS (Glasg), FDS RCS (Edin), MOrth RCS (Edin), Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics), PG Cert Med Ed, FHEA
Imran is a registered Specialist in Orthodontics and studied dentistry at University of Glasgow, qualifying in 2001. He has worked in general dental practice in the UK and Australia, with his specialist training undertaken at Glasgow Dental Hospital and School obtaining his specialist Membership in Orthodontics qualification in 2011 from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a Doctorate degree in Orthodontics from the University of Glasgow. Imran has won two prestigious prizes: from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow as the T.C White Lecturer Award and the Royal Society of Medicine Odontology President’s Prize Award.
He has worked in hospital orthodontic departments and presently in a specialist multi-disciplinary practice. He has a keen interest in research and has published extensively, presenting at national and international conferences. His main interests include aesthetic orthodontics, treating children and dental teaching.
Outside of orthodontics Imran tries to keep fit by running and is a sci-fi geek. He is a Treasurer for the charity Dental Aid Network that provides dental missions to areas of high need including orphanages, refugee camps and vulnerable people worldwide.
